Location: Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton Fl

Reports to: Custodial Supervisor

Salary: $12.00-14.00 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Porter is primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of all Housing buildings.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the grounds, interior building common areas, and exterior of the building.
  • Assist in removing all trash and refuse from the buildings.
  • Proper use of equipment ranging from common hand tools, pressure washers, floor/carpet machines, and stripping/waxing floor machines
  • Operate lift equipment to reach windows to remove dirt and grime from windows and glass surfaces.
  • Appropriately care for and maintain all equipment used.
  • Aid in custodial duties such as cleaning and preparing vacant units for new residents.
  • Assist in escorting and monitoring vendors while on-site providing a service.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and customer concerns.
  • Serve as essential personnel for emergency call-outs.
  • Identifies problems and report work orders for building needs.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practices safe work habits.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist in performing functions that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Education/Experience/Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Custodial experience with willingness to learn general tasks. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to move and lift to 50lbs and navigate up and down stairs.
  • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
