Job Title: Custodian

Location: The Essential at Johns Hopkins Medical campus

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor     

Salary: $16.00-$18.00 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Custodian is responsible for overall cleanliness and maintenance of grounds, interior building, common areas, and exterior of building. The anticipated work schedule is Monday-Saturday, 40 hours per week, between the hours of 8am – 7pm, M-F and Saturday 10am-2pm. Schedule to be finalized upon hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming of hallways, stairwells, office spaces, and other common areas.
  • Assists in emptying office trash and common area trash receptacles.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter and debris from sidewalks, decks, and amenity spaces.
  • Maintains all common areas in a clean and orderly condition, including restrooms.
  • Assists in moving furniture in and out of student rooms and between buildings.
  • Assists in other areas that are not direct responsibility, per Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Custodial experience with willingness to learn.
  • Ability to lift 35-50lbs and navigate up and down stairs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. 
  • Must be punctual, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and willing to engage with residents.
