Job Title: HVAC Maintenance Technician

Location: University Ridge & Sycamore Suites, East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg, PA

Reports to: Director of Facilities

Salary: $24.00-26.00 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

The primary responsibility of the HVAC Maintenance Technician is to collaborate with the overall staff to upkeep, maintain and repair the community. The HVAC Maintenance Technician has a primary focus on repairs and preventive maintenance of the heating, cooling and hot water systems for the community. Extended responsibilities include maintaining basic building functions and such things as appliances, entry keys and lock systems, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, electrical equipment, sprinkler equipment, generators, emergency lighting, interior and exterior building lighting, fire alarms, extinguishers, security systems, and building plumbing systems. Duties include painting, plumbing, maintaining work logs, stocking and organizing the maintenance shop, and keeping machinery and equipment in good working order.  Projecting a customer focused and professional image through interaction with all internal and external customers is essential.  The HVAC Maintenance Technician serves in an on-call rotation for maintenance emergencies 24 hours per day, 7 days per week on a rotating basis. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing.
  • Monitor and repair HVAC system for the entire facility.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance such as pipes, drains, faucets, disposals, showers and Jacuzzi tubs using methods that include soldering, brazing silver, PVC, CPVC and fittings.
  • Replace breakers, ballast and other electrical fixtures including switches and sockets; prevent and trouble shoot possible electric hazards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of all aspects of units, common areas and grounds as required. 
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance programs on all systems such as HVAC, boilers, etc.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all buildings and equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
  • Assist with outside grounds maintenance and snow removal when needed
  • Participates in a 24-hour emergency maintenance on-call schedule on a rotating basis.
  • Responds on-site within 30 minutes for emergency calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • EPA Certification required (Universal, II or III preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ general maintenance experience – preferred in the areas of residential or student communities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and in speech.
  • Must be punctual, organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with team focus.
