Job Title: Housing Assignments Coordinator

Location:  Partnership with Howard University – Washington, D.C.

Reports to: Director of Operations 

Salary: $50,000.00 per year and a comprehensive benefits package

FLSA Status: Exempt


Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations, The Housing Assignments Coordinator is responsible for monitoring housing applications and processing housing assignments for the residential community at Howard University. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the housing assignments process for the community. 
  • Monitors and response to questions from students regarding their housing applications or housing assignments.
  • Monitors student housing e-mail account and responds to e-mails.
  • Coordinates and processes early arrival requests for students who need to return to campus prior to the halls officially opening each semester.
  • Assist with fall and spring student move-in and move-out of the residence hall.
  • Maintains accurate records regarding occupancy data and records.
  • Oversees and monitors housing waiting list requests.
  • Creates and distributes occupancy reports. 
  • Conducts occupancy verification process for fall and spring semesters. 
  • Processes housing accommodation requests approved through the Howard University Office of Disability Services.
  • Collaborates with residence life staff to process and implement room change requests. 
  • Assists the Director of Operations with occupancy management and forecasting.
  • Provides general clerical support for the office.
  • Monitors the residence hall room key inventory.
  • Participates in training for professional and student staff. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a related position such as college administration or student housing.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel). 
  • Knowledge of student housing software 
  • Knowledge and understanding of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Good organization and communication skills.
